The Collaborative Research Centre SFB/TRR 205 – The Adrenal Gland: Central Relay in Health and Disease investigates disorders of the adrenal glands, which can lead to both acute and chronic health problems. Bringing together leading researchers from six institutions in Dresden, Munich and Würzburg, the consortium combines basic, translational and clinical research. Its goal is to better understand the central role of the adrenal glands in metabolic and inflammatory diseases and to translate these insights into new therapeutic approaches. Elisabeth Kemter and Eckhard Wolf are PIs of a project developing a characterizing a new pig model for familial hyperaldosteronism.
