Dr. med. Dr. med. vet. Ernst von Wnuck Prize for Dr. Asghar Ali

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at LMU Munich is delighted to award this year’s Dr. Dr. Ernst von Wnuck Prize for Cardiological Research to our colleague Asghar Ali. His scientific career has taken him from Pakistan to Colorado State University, the Research Institute for Farm Animal Biology in Dummerstorf, and ultimately to LMU Munich. His research spans reproductive biology, genetic engineering, and translational medicine. At LMU, Dr. Ali has made important contributions to the genetic modification of Auckland Island pigs for xenotransplantation, supporting research aimed at addressing the shortage of human donor organs. The award recognizes his outstanding commitment to research and teaching.
