New DFG-Collaborative Research Centre InTraC funded

19.05.2026

The new LMU-based Collaborative Research Centre SFB 1784 InTraC (The Interplay of Thrombosis and Inflammation – Translating Molecular Mechanisms into Clinical Applications) investigates the close interplay between thrombosis and inflammation. While immunothrombosis is an important defence mechanism against pathogens, its dysregulation can cause severe tissue damage in infections and autoimmune diseases. Bringing together LMU researchers and national and international partners, InTraC combines systems biology, animal models and advanced imaging to uncover underlying mechanisms and develop new therapies. The goal is more precise diagnosis and targeted treatment of thromboinflammatory diseases. Eckhard Wolf is PI in a central project analyzing and developing pig models for this research topic.
