Standardized assessment of glucose control and insulin secretion and sensitivity in the pig

20.06.2025

Simone Renner and her doctoral student Yasmin Eckstein have developed a standardized protocol for evaluating glucose regulation, insulin secretion, and insulin sensitivity in pigs, an important large-animal model for diabetes research. The protocol provides detailed methods for metabolic testing and analysis of key hormones involved in blood sugar control. By enabling consistent and reliable measurements, the approach can improve the comparability of studies and support the development and evaluation of new diabetes treatments.
